'Sony Music Supports UK Record Store Day'
A reminder to all music fans that this Saturday 17th April will see Record Store Day, a celebration of independent record stores and highlighting the continuing contribution of these stores to music.
Sony Music will be supporting UK Record Store day on the 17th April with a series of ten limited edition vinyl records from across its music divisions and featuring a mix of artists such as M People, MGMT, Editors, Them Crooked Vultures, Bruce Springsteen and The Stone Roses.
Each vinyl release is exclusive to the independent record shops taking part in the event. Additionally two exclusive posters have been produced for the Iron Man 2 AC/DC album, and Scouting For Girls' Everybody Wants To Be On TV album which will again only be available in these stores.
Mike Smith, Managing Director of Columbia Records, says: "I am delighted that Columbia Records is able to support Record Store Day with a great selection of bespoke releases. Independent record stores are the midwives for great music in this country and have been crucial to the launch of so many successful artists' careers. As an industry we need to do all we can to ensure they thrive".

On Saturday April 17th a thousand independent record shops across 18 countries and four continents – including 150 in the UK – will open their doors to celebrate record Store Day.
