From MSN News:
The Strictly women
As the next batch of Strictly Come Dancing contestants are confirmed, we take a look at the female contestants who'll be hoping to match Alesha Dixon's success last year and what their odds are.
:: Christine Bleakley and Matthew Cutler (6-1)
Christine is well known for her role as co-host of The One Show, which she took over from Myleene Klass. She said of co-host Adrian Chiles: "When I told him I was going on the show he said 'you can't dance'. "Secretly he's just jealous. He's a lad drinking beer, watching football but secretly he would like to be in the show, dancing with Karen (a professional dancer)."
:: Jodie Kidd and Ian Waite (14-1)
Jodie comes from an aristocratic family and has modelled for Marks and Spencer and Monsoon. She recently split with internet entrepreneur Aidan Butler after just 18 months of marriage. The model said: "I've already got lots of blisters and pulled muscles that I didn't know I had. "Quite a few of the dancers have experience, I'm just finding out. I've always been a complete tomboy but would like to be able to dance. "I'm really looking forward to doing the foxtrot but I'm not meant to be an amazing Latin dancer because I'm all arms and legs. Ballroom is an area that's disappearing, especially with the youngsters."
:: Cherie Lunghi and James Jordon (20-1)
Actress Cherie's TV credits include Casualty, Cutting It, Hotel Babylon, Waking the Dead, and Secret Diary of a Call Girl. She said: "I think this will be tremendous fun. I hope that me doing this inspires other women to kick off their shoes and give dancing a whirl."
:: Heather Small and Brian Fortuna (12-1)
Heather is famous for hits such as Moving On Up, One Night in Heaven and Search for the Hero with pop group M People. She said: "I occasionally suffer from stage fright... I just hope my nerves don't get the better of me."
:: Lisa Snowdon and Brendan Cole (8-1)
Lisa, famous for dating George Clooney, has presented shows such as Britain's Next Top Model. Asked about Brendan's reputation as a lothario, she said: "He's a teddy bear." She added: "All my family, including my gran, said if you ever get offered Strictly you have to do it."
:: Rachel Stevens and Vincent Simone (3-1)
Rachel became a member of pop group S Club 7 at the age of 19. The band disbanded in 2003, and Rachel attempted to forge a solo career. She said: "It does help that I have danced before but this is very different. I'm not a trained dancer and this is so technical."
:: Gillian Taylforth and Anton Du Beke (33-1)
Taylforth played Kathy Mitchell in EastEnders and also starred in Footballers' Wives and The Bill. She said: "Watching the show, I always thought 'I could do that'. Now I know I can't. It was a big mistake. I've already sprained my heel."
:: Jessie Wallace and Darren Bennett (12-1)
Jessie played Kat Slater in EastEnders for five years until leaving the soap in 2005. After leaving, it was stories about the mother-of-one's love-life that made the headlines. Since leaving EastEnders, she has appeared in Wild At Heart, A Class Apart and The Dinner Party.
Jessie said: "I've always wanted to do Strictly. All those amazing dresses and fantastic make-up. I thought I would be okay at dancing but I don't think that anymore."
