Soul sensation's powerful voice is coming to Cliffs!
By Bernie Friend

Soul singer Heather Small brings her distinctive voice to the Cliffs Pavilion, Westcliff, on Wednesday, May 20.

Best known for fronting Nineties group M People, Heather has sold more than 10 million albums around the globe.

M People were formed after a chance meeting between Heather and Hacienda DJ Mike Pickering in 1990.

The prolific collaboration produced numerous top ten singles, including anthems Moving on Up and Search for the Hero.

In 1998, Heather and the band took time off to pursue solo projects and she released a debut solo album, Proud, two years later.

In 2005, another M People album was released, M People featuring Heather Small, the Ultimate Collection, featuring both band and solo singles.

They reformed and played together on an arena tour during 2005, and have continued to play a few dates every year since.

Most recently, Heather returned to TV screens as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing last year and performed at Buckingham Palace as part of the Olympic 2012 handover party.

Joined on tour by the Snake Davis Band, she will sing her best loved M People and solo hits, plus a mixture of blues and jazz standards. Doors open at 8pm. For more information, call 01702 351135.
