'Grand night with soul diva!' is one of the headlines making the news in Burnley this week. Heather Small is the guest performer at the launch party for a new Music & Arts Centre. The article reads:
'INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed soul diva Heather Small has been revealed as the guest star to perform at The Grand Launch Party.
Heather, formerly of M People and who shot to fame with classics such as Moving On Up, One Night in Heaven and Search for the Hero, soared to become one of the biggest female singers of the 90s.
She was a winner in the 1994 and 1995 Brit Awards, as well as winning best album for Mercury Music prize.
She will be supported by the girl dubbed the Scottish rock and roll princess, Esther O'Connor, (daughter of the legendary Wet Wet Wet guitarist Graeme Duffin) who has shared a stage with artists such as: Beverly Knight, Athlete and the Zutons.
The Friday, March 28th event will see the opening of the 3m. conversion of the former York Street cinema into a music and arts centre, funded by the Lancaster Foundation.
It is just two weeks before The Grand Music and Arts Centre opens.
Although Friday night's launch is all tickets, on Saturday there will be an open day for all.
During the day Bizi Lizi is hosting children's art workshops, there are beginners' dance workshops - with a small charge, recording studio tours, local children taking part in a variety show and in the evening Bluebird Kid Clark are headlining with The 99s and The Ragamuffins supporting.
On Sunday between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. there will be a free Christian worship event with soul singer Ben Cantelon and Oasis founder Steve Chalke, with pizza on the house with Francois Nouaillat.
