Last night Heather Small attended the annual BMI London Awards. Her track 'Proud' received a TV Music Award for the soundtrack of the American TV show 'The Biggest Looser'.
Heather said: "It's nice to be recognised. My award is for 'Proud', which is on The Biggest Loser, which may not sound great, but it's all about losing weight!"
"I don't do so much now, but I'm going on tour with Lula and Anastacia in November later this year, which I'm looking forward to."
The BMI (Broadcast Music Inc) collects license fees from businesses that use music, which it distributes as royalties to songwriters, composers & music publishers.
From the BMI website:
BMI celebrated Europe’s premier songwriters, composers and music publishers during its annual BMI London Awards. Guests filled London’s Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane to toast the past year’s most-performed songs on U.S. radio and television.
Songwriters and composers honored at the event are members of European and Asian performing right societies and are represented in the U.S. by BMI.
Over 50 awards were handed out, including BMI “Million-Air” Awards recognizing songs that have generated more than three million U.S. radio and television performances.
